*Closure of Pattingham Surgery*

Due to circumstances entirely beyond our control, it is with regret that we must vacate Pattingham surgery and therefor cease to deliver General Medical Services from our Pattingham branch surgery. Our last working day there will be Friday 16th February.

We will be providing all our general medical services from Claverley Surgery. The surgery at Claverley is more equipped, has more services available and has more staff-offering a concentrated and comprehensive service to patients.

We have set up a FREE home delivery service of medication for those living in Pattingham.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q.Where will we park if everyone is using Claverley Surgery?

A: We recognise the parking at Claverley is tight however the Plough public house on the high street has always allowed patients to park on their car park.

Q: Will there be longer waiting times to get an appointment?

A: Claverley Surgery will have additional clinical sessions and will be open on Wednesday afternoons to relieve the pressure.

Q: I live in Pattingham, how will I get my repeat prescription?

A: Repeat prescriptions will automatically be reproduced for those not using patient access and can be delivered if you sign up to our FREE home delivery service (please ask reception for a form)

Q: Could the Surgery not have been moved to another premises?

A: As you may well be aware the practice has been perusing the possible redevelopment of the Pattingham branch surgery for some time. Regrettably, because of changing priorities and resources within the NHS this has not been possible at the current time. Consideration has been given to moving premises, a new build and even a portable building.

28 Day Repeat Prescribing

A 28 day repeat prescribing interval is recognised by the NHS as making the best possible balance between patient convenience, good medical practice and minimal drug wastage. Prescribing for shorter periods has been widely promoted across England. Research by the National Audit Office in 2007 has shown home and excess medicine stock values for patients prescribed a 28 day supply of a medicine to be one third less than those for patients receiving prescriptions to cover 56 days. In addition, a Bradford University Study concluded that the NHS cost of prescriptions issued for 56 days’ supply is greater than those for 28 days.

From 1st April 2017 the NHS Prescription Charge is £8.60

The NHS prescription charge is a contribution to the NHS; it is not a payment to the surgery or its dispensary and is not related to the cost of your medicines(s).

If you need 4 or more prescriptions in three months or 13 or more prescriptions a year, you could save money with a Prescription Prepayment Certificate.

We actively encourage our patients to consider this as it covers any prescription during this period of time, eg one off antibiotic prescriptions or creams etc. in addition to any regular repeat prescriptions.

Ask a member of the dispensary team for more details or visit www.nhs.uk/healthcosts

Average GP Earnings for 2014-2015

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working at Claverley Medical Practice in the last financial year was £53,905 before tax and National Insurance.

This is for 1 full time GP, 3 part time GPs and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than six months.
