Nurses’ Clinics
- Claverley Surgery:
Monday to Friday
At Claverley, in addition to their clinic duties, the nurses are available for consultation for minor ailments, dressings, removal of stitches, travel advice and immunisations or anything you wish to discuss with them.
Additional clinics are also available for the following: control of diabetes, asthma, respiratory care (COPD), child health surveillance and childhood immunisations.
Phlebotomist Clinics
Blood test appointments can be made with our phlebotomist on a Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning.
Diabetes Clinic
Patients with diabetes are seen by the nurse, ideally on a Tuesday or Thursday. However, patients with the condition should also be seen once a year for an annual review with the doctor, in conjunction with the nurse. Usually patients will require a double appointment with the practice nurse, so please inform the receptionist at the time of making your appointment.
Health Surveillance and New Patient Registration Checks
Our practice sisters together with our health care assistant are able to offer a health screening service which includes checking blood pressure, urine, height, weight, lifestyle, exercise habits and family history in order to assess your general health and offer advice where necessary. We request that all new patients participate in this offer and recommend a routine repeat every three years.
Cervical smear tests are advised every three years for women aged 25 to the age of 65 years and are carried out by any of our practice nurses. When you attend for your cervical smear please bring along a specimen of urine for routine testing.
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Clinic
Any patient with a heart condition will be reviewed annually in a nurse-led clinic, in order to monitor symptoms and medication.
Older Person’s Medication Review (over 75s).
All patients over the age of 75 are invited to attend the doctor or nurse for a medication review.
Minor Surgery
Minor operations are carried out by Dr Allen at the surgery by appointment.
Asthma Clinic
Monitoring and treatment of all patients with asthma is carried out by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors. All patients receiving treatment for asthma, or symptomatic, should be seen annually by the nurse.
Respiratory Care (COPD) Clinic
We have a nurse specialist in respiratory care. These are called COPD clinics and are held weekly to include lung function testing and further management of respiratory problems.
Child Health Surveillance
The doctors offer growth and development checks for children under five, including screening tests for hearing and vision via the health visitor. These are normally performed at six weeks. Appointments are arranged by telephoning the surgery.
Maternity Surveillance
Antenatal patients are routinely seen at regular intervals throughout their pregnancy during normal surgery hours by appointment. Postnatal examinations are carried out by the practice nurse together with the baby examination which is carried out by the doctor.
Childhood Vaccination Clinic
Please telephone the surgery for an appointment with the nurse.
We prefer children to be vaccinated at Claverley surgery where possible and would be pleased to discuss any queries or anxieties you may have regarding vaccination.
